An instrument was born, and to this day nothing has changed.
There are two types of acoustic guitars, the steel string guitar and the nylon string guitar.
The steel string guitar is brighter and louder than nylon string guitars.
Steel string guitars can be played with a pick or fingers, as in finger picking.
Nylon string guitars are usually finger picked.
Nylon string guitars have a more mellow sound.
The acoustic guitar is different from an electric guitar, which must rely on electronic amplification.
Steel string acoustic guitars are brighter and louder than nylon string guitars.
Nylon string guitar are mostly used for classical guitar music or soft folk music,
finger picked rather than strummed.
The acoustic guitar is a great instrument played to be enjoyed by yourself
or in the company of friends and family.
I encourage you to sing the songs you learn
or find a friend who sings. Encourage sing-a-long get togethers
at parties or at a campfire. You can provide the music.
After learning the basic chords, you may want to become a solo finger picking guitarist.
This is a lot of fun and people love to hear a good finger picking guitar player.
